GENERAL POINTS:
- Developing, developed and least developed countries - these terms were not given officially by any country or organization.
- When Donald Trump was the President of the US, his idea was “America for Americans” and “Americans first”.
- Like spiritual tourism, medical tourism is also a part of tourism. Here people go to places where there is quality treatment at low costs.
- Push factors make people migrate towards urban areas. They are like unemployment, education, etc. Similarly, pull factors like different types of job opportunities, sophisticated environment, quality education attract people towards urban areas.
HIMALAYAN REGIONS:
- As we know, the Himalayan regions provide natural protection to northern India.
- They are crucial tourism sites and contribute a lot to the country's development.
- Himalayan states demand a separate ministry to take their issues to parliament.
- As per the IPCC report, India is the 3rd largest emitter of greenhouse gases(7%) next to China(28%) and the US(15%).
AADHAR:
NEED OF AADHAR:
India has around 135 crore population and hence it is difficult to analyze the beneficiaries of each welfare scheme among them. Therefore, to identify individuals uniquely, the planning for Aadhaar was initiated in 2009 by the UPA government. The plan of aadhar was first executed in Maharashtra.
ISSUES:
- K.S. Puttaswamy case(2017):
The Constitution of India guarantees each individual a fundamental right to privacy. A retired High Court Judge K.S. Puttaswamy filed a petition in 2012 against the Union of India before a nine-judge bench of the Supreme Court challenging the constitutionality of Aadhaar because it is violating the right to privacy.
- AADHAR MANDATORY OR VOLUNTARY?
Aadhar was initially voluntary and later on, it became mandatory proof for Indian citizens to get most of the beneficiaries
BAL AADHAR:
- This is especially for children under 5 years.
- It is a blue-colored variant of aadhar.
- No biometric details are required for children below the age of five.
- When a child reaches the age of five, a mandatory biometric update is required.
Aadhar will be continued in upcoming classes.
